Course Information

We offer a range of courses and introductory sessions from the shop and on the River Thames for paddlers looking for some basic paddling and safety skills to help you get the most out of your time on the water.

Introduction to Kayaking - 1 Star Award - £80

A one day course aimed at developing the basic skills and techniques required to be competent in a kayak on flat water.  Suitable for newer paddlers and a great stepping stone to further development.

Typically this involves about 6 hours on the water in the marina and a short 3km paddle trip and will cover boat control and steering, capsize practise and other useful safety considerations.  The price includes equipment hire, coaching. 6 spaces available.

Intermediate Skills - 2 Star Award - £150

A two day course covering both kayaking and canoeing to further develop skill on sheltered water.

Typically the course involve two 6 hours days on the water in the Marina with a longer trip each day.  One day will spent in a kayak and the other in a canoe.  The course covers boat control and steering, recovery strokes, safety and rescue and looks to help paddlers learn more about the theory and knowledge of the sport.  The price includes equipment hire, coaching.  6 spaces available.

Foundation Safety and Rescue - FSRT - £80

A one day course providing training on key skills needed to operate safely and deal with common emergencies in a sheltered water environment. Participants must be aged 14 or over.

The objective of this training course is to teach simple and safe skills that can provide the tools to problem solve simple common paddling scenarios in flat/sheltered water regardless of the craft to ensure personal and others safety.  The price includes equipment hire, coaching.  6 spaces available.
